Seven-time World Champion Lewis Hamilton continued his acclimatization to Ferrari machinery with an extensive testing session at the Circuit de Barcelona-Catalunya. This marks his second outing in a 2023-spec Ferrari, following an initial run at the team's Fiorano circuit.

Hamilton's transition to Ferrari comes after a 12-season tenure with Mercedes. The Barcelona test is part of a comprehensive program designed to familiarize him with Ferrari's operations and vehicle dynamics. On a clear but cool day, Hamilton took over driving duties from teammate Charles Leclerc in the afternoon session. Both drivers are scheduled for additional track time at the same venue over the next two days, weather permitting.

The primary objectives for Hamilton during this test include adjusting to the cockpit ergonomics, fine-tuning pedal feel, configuring steering wheel settings, and understanding Ferrari's trackside procedures. Per Formula 1 regulations, race drivers are limited to 1,000 kilometers in Testing of Previous Cars (TPC) sessions. Prior to Barcelona, Hamilton and Leclerc had approximately 800 kilometers remaining in this allocation.

Looking ahead, Ferrari plans to return to Barcelona on February 4 and 5 for a Pirelli tire test in collaboration with McLaren. While specific driver participation has yet to be confirmed, it's anticipated that Hamilton will gain additional mileage in a modified 2024-spec Ferrari during this session. The team's 2025 car is slated for its debut at Fiorano on February 19, with Hamilton and Leclerc eager to commence their first season as teammates.

In preparation for the upcoming season, Hamilton is dedicating time to simulator work and engaging with his engineering team to ensure a seamless integration into his new environment. Pre-season testing is set to begin on February 26 in Bahrain, where Hamilton and his competitors will each have 1.5 days of track time to fine-tune their setups ahead of the season opener.

Hamilton's move to Ferrari marks a significant chapter in his illustrious career, and these testing sessions are crucial for building synergy with the team and optimizing performance for the forthcoming season.
